oh god I love this place!!!
Today I went to the hospital to get my syringes and such for my self administered heparin project and it became apparent to me:
This country sucks…
the life out of its citizens…
Here’s the skinny: in Spain they just approved a program which would enable the banks to compensate students for good grades maintained in school, where school is publicly funded.
A few other fun facts:
The Outstanding Public Debt as of 27 Feb 2006 at 08:02:38 PM GMT is:
The estimated population of the United States is 298,641,046
so each citizen’s share of this debt is $27,656.41.
The National Debt has continued to increase an average of
$2.17 billion per day since September 30, 2005!

This is some more crazy information I found out today:
You are expected to survive on your short term disability allocation until it runs out at which point you can become eligible for Social Security Disability (which for me is like $2,000 per month…From $624 to $2,000, yes!
My gross amount is most likely too much earned to be eligible for Medicaid.
If you are making under $1000 per month, you are eligible for food stamps.
You can be eligible for food stamps and not be eligible for Medicaid.
You can receive Social Security benefits and be disabled, and make too much money to be eligible for Medicaid and food stamps at the same time.
And, if you are someone with a major illness who needs medical care to survive:
It does not matter that a normal insurance program will not cover you, you are better off not obtaining Social Security Disability (that 2 grand a month) and making no money, but collecting food stamps, and yes, cans or some other “under the table employment”.
If you do try and choose a comfortable life and collect your disability, you are then responsible for all medical bills incurred.
