hahahaha–sometimes…everything stinks
So I spent this crazy amount of time pondering and recounting back my
life on a livejournal entry. Then, my clutzy fingers accidentally made
it all disappear. Though it was the complete story of my life from
birth to this point, and would have taken more space than I could
ever have allowed. Does anyone know how to guide me through the
livejournal “cut” process, where you can hide the remainders of text?
Today I woke up to the dumpster horizon. Carefully perched outside my
window, I was wakened to the sound of stuff (demolition) hitting the
sides of the dumpster, though I was relieved when I realized that the
precarious sounds would muffle and fade as the dumpster filled up. My
apartment has been assaulted on many occasions with this demolition,
debris flying and crackling down my walls to hit bottom when they put
in the 5,000 pounds of mahogany upstairs in the kitchen. My landlord is
pretty out there with his style and the inordinate amounts of money he
spends on “stuff” is funny as hell. He recently showed me this $8,000
fire place he was ordering. A true beauty, this thing, imported from a
now defunct european mansion sporting itself from the 19th century.
I am simple, easy to entertain. The fetus and I went out for breakfast
at the Hard Grove, something we haven’t done in months. After perusing
my selection at my local ghetto beauty store, I came home with a bag
busting with shampoos, razors, and other good smelly stuff. Ghetto
beauty is called BeautyLand, but with the many ghetto wigs and various
ghetto-themed products, had earned that illustrious name from me. Then
we went to the health food store, where I procured my new diet
regimen, organic cereal and soy milk. I figure I could lose about 8
more pounds through diet alone, and skinny my frame down to almost sick
proportions in preparation for a photo shoot I need to complete.
This is my birthday so far. I love it, living, and breathing and seeing.
I have many things on my mind today.
And it’s all good–every single dusty piece has been lightly dusted and preserved for future analysis.
Now, I must shower and get pretty for work at 6 pm. The Yankees lost,
but hopefully people at the bar will be generous and happy to give me
good tips. Wish on that.
Happy Birthday to me. haahahah.
A very happy Birthday Wish to you!!!
Hey Deaa, Just wanted to wish you a very special and Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!

K… Um… the easiest way to do this is to write your entry using rich text formatting. Once in rich text all you have to do is click on the icon that looks something like this: (…)
Clicking on this icon will add the cut off ‘start point’… which you will see in your yet-to-be-posted entry. You can then choose a caption for the hidden part of your entry as directed to do so by Live Journal.
Next you just write the stuff you want linked to your comment page, but make sure you’re writing the stuff after the cut.
After you’re finished with the text you simply click that icon again (…), and affixed to your entry will be a second cut off point, tieing in with your first cut off point, to tuck everything nicely away.
Live Journal will ask you to choose a caption again, but if you’ve already chosen one you can just click okay and not type anything.
That’s pretty much it…
(…)
Your stuff.
(…)
Easy.
Yet whorishly hard in practice!
I can’t seem to add a photo to my entry any other way than by doing this cut and link crap.
Which continually pisses me off.
I don’t know what im doing wrong.
*flower!
Nite you.
Re: LJ Cuts
I had similar problems when I first started using Semagic. I finally got it right by examining other peoples posts with Adobe GoLive.
I add web based images by using the HTML tag < -img src=...-> (minus the hyphens and no space btwn th <> signs. Had to use them to keep it from showing up as an image frame), where (…) is the address where the image is located. I don’t know if you can upload from your own computer files directly to LJ though. If you ever find out that you can, I’d love to know how :^]
I hope this helps you.
Re: LJ Cuts
I’m just adding this for Deanna because I don’t think what you added showed up in your reply. Hope you don’t mind :^]
In Semagic I found “LJ Cut with text” generates the following HTML tag: < -lj-cut text="blah"-> (minus the hyphens and no space btwn the <> signs), where “blah” is the text you wish to use to describe your LJ cut.
To end the cut, use the following tag: .< -/lj-cut-> (again, minus the hyphens and no space btwn the <> signs).
So your text might look something like this;
before posting:
Yackity shmackity text not in the cut. < -lj-cut text="blah"-> blah blah blah this is your cut blah blah blah < -/lj-cut-> Yackity shmackity text not in the cut.
and after posting:
Yackity shmackity text not in the cut. blah Yackity shmackity text not in the cut.
Hope this helps.
