Freedom from Health and Care is the New American Way
I have often kept my trap shut regarding certain things–most people don’t like questioning the things they think and Don tells me all the time I am never going to change any minds. And I almost ALMOST believe that is true, until I realize some of my more controversial comments continually get filtered and never posted on some of the right wing boards. Notably this includes healthcare comments and comments about money being the only value Americans seem to want to celebrate, which I wholeheartedly believe is true. It is legitimately the only value we can affix to people and situations and things–and generally those with it are automatically given more credibility than those without it. We don’t value kindness, empathy, education or charity quite like we value money and I continually see it everywhere. You don’t see people who have a lot of it even use a single one of those other facets to define themselves–which I have been noticing a lot over the past few years and hope one day people recognize and change their direction to embrace.
It’s kind of an odd thing to recognize, but I recognize even my separation from my maternal blood line was based in a money argument. The letter served had money as its reason and focused demand. Then again, what the hell else would an eviction notice focus on but cold hard cash? Even the damages listed (the backyard flood) were focused on recouping not respect, not responsibility, but…you guessed it, money. It was enough to blow up a relationship that had existed for 15 years before its demise, but it was as simple as…fucking money.
So the commentary that I have been continuously posting or rather trying to post over the past few days is based on this new virus that has come to town. My commentary usually is centered on this idea that Americans value money so much that they would rather give money all favor over healthcare. That they don’t deserve healthcare because the rich do need all of the socialism you hear the right complain cannot go into the hands of the people, but certainly should continue to be focused on keeping the people with money flush with it, forget the rest of us. Now, I do point out that the right not providing any health plan is completely intentional. Now, why would they be so cruel? Because again, money. Now the people who are draining your resources are doing that still–even with no health plan, the healthcare companies will continue to profit off of your pain and suffering and the right doesn’t have to move a finger to ensure they keep getting to do that. And the double money carrot with that plan is when you die, who gets your social security? Um, not you, and we continue to hear all the time about having to make cuts to it and I do firmly believe Americans are fine with that. They have not demanded more because we are like the abused wife of our government, so deprived of decency and favor that anyone offering anything else is seen as a faker or “giving shit away for free.” Nevermind that 60% of your tax money goes to the military, our citizenry has gotten so used to having nothing we are immediately suspicious of anyone offering anything but the bare minimum for our contributions. So it is a win for the government to not help you because when you die, yes, there is more money to help those who will survive long enough to get it. And, the right can keep the rich happy by giving them everything they want. This is not me getting that social security, of course, but it is a point worth recognizing.
We will likely never solve this health problem in my lifetime, but I continue to fight for everyone so that none of you have to do what I have done and have that nothing. Now if you know any younger people who have been hit with heart problems, aortic dissections or any other problem which will need continuous care, you would be better served to tell them they cannot have anything. Now, of course of course they CAN, but they won’t be able to keep it, as my kinds of issues are the kinds that will continuously be draining your resources. Being honest with young people about this might not make you feel great, but until we all realize we CAN have nice things, having them just makes you more of a target. Now part of my snarky commentary lately has been–well guys, just wanted to thank those of you who will be victim to this new flu for your contributions to the social security fund–we hear all the time there’s not enough and though this flu might help us keep it flush for longer, you sure showed the liberals what commies they were for wanting to help everyone. Harsh? Maybe, but so is leaving a bunch of people to die to ensure Dbags like Bezos can continue to make more money than they could ever ever spend in a lifetime is also cruel.
But, like America tends to do, we like to reason our way out of having anyone help us and call people who do want to help the names that make me realize we are just not ready for any kind of evolution. Not of thought, not of action. We are just the abused wife of our government, waiting for the tiny morsels of nice we get promised a lot, but rarely see. This flu is coming and yeah, thankfully we weren’t forward thinking enough to think we could get any care to survive it en masse–we clearly need to make sure the only American value we support, money, remains unscathed. And yes, I do shake my head at that notion…OFTEN. You might die, America, but at least the government wasn’t involved in making sure you didn’t. Am I right?
Not everything with social value is profitable and not everything profitable has social value. There’s something for you to chew on before being so ignorant in the future, fellow Americans.
